How close do you live to a nuclear reactor?

Did you know…?

  • There are regular and allowable releases of radiation from nuclear power reactors despite the fact that there is no “safe” dose of radiation, only “acceptable” thresholds that governments keep arbitrarily raising.
  • Uranium mining poisons miners and families by contaminating surrounding lands, scarce water supplies and the air they breathe.
  • Children are most vulnerable to harm from radiation and women are 50% more vulnerable than men.
  • Nuclear bombs are made from fuel created from waste products in nuclear reactors. That’s why every nuclear reactor is a potential bomb factory.
  • The U.S and other countries are using nuclear weapons in the form of depleted uranium reprocessed from nuclear power reactors and deployed in military conflicts around the world. There is nothing “peaceful” about nuclear energy.
  • 1/3 of Americans live within 50 miles of a nuclear reactor; 23 of our 104 reactors have the same flawed design as those in Fukushima Daiichi that melted down.
  • Radioactive waste is deadly for more than 240,000 years.
